Like everyone else I discovered my contact form was not working, and after numerous dead-ends, I finally found John Bottarini’s helpful blog post.

I was able to get things working again by following his instructions. However, there is still a problem. I read my internal email by having it forwarded to my gmail account ([email protected]). So the contact messages are being sent to an internal email address ([email protected]) and then forwarded to my gmail account. But this is not working anymore for contact messages.

Even though my “To” address is set to [email protected], when it arrives at the internal mailbox for “dummy”, the “To” address has been changed to [email protected], where it stops. For some reason, forwarding will not happen when the email comes from the forwarded address. Other emails are forwarded, without delay.

So my question is: why does [email protected] get converted to [email protected]? Or, more importantly, how to work around this issue?

    Anyone?

I don’t know. Maybe only you know. You set it up so, didn’t you?

Wow … first time I have ever seen a plugin author intentionally insult someone. I guess you must be tired of answering so many questions.

Actually, I didn’t even know it was possible to set it up this way, but that’s not really the point.

The real question is: How can I fix it?

I would really appreciate some help if anyone has an idea …

Sorry if my comment sounded like an insult. I didn’t mean it.

Contact your host and ask them whether you have a forwarding setting.

Acting upon your advice, I contacted my host and everything seems to be setup correctly on their end.

I still cannot figure out why emails from Contact Form 7 arrive in my inbox with the “from” field set to [email protected], rather than [email protected].

When I open the mail sent by contact form 1, I find the following:

    From [email protected]
    Sender [email protected]
    To [email protected]
    Reply-To [email protected]
    Date Today 15:19

Can you take a look at configuration settings listed below and see there is any potential problem?

    WordPress backend:
Setting->General->”Email Address” is set to [email protected]

Contact Form 7 configuration parameters set as follows:

    Form Tab:

Your Name (required)
    [text* your-name]

Your Email (required)
    [email* your-email]

Subject (required)
    [text* your-subject]

Your Message
    [textarea your-message]

Please type in the following: [captchac captcha-289]
    [captchar captcha-289]

    [submit class:button id:form-submit “Send Mail”]

    Mail Tab:

    To: [email protected]
    From: [your-name] <[email protected]>
    Subject:[your-subject]
    Additional Headers: Reply-To: [your-email]
    Message Body:
    From: [your-name] <[your-email]>
    Subject: [your-subject]

    Message Body:
    [your-message]

Try deactivating all other plugins and switching to the default theme.
