    Hello,

My client has CF7 installed in WordPress for genericdomain.com

The CF7 form is configured to send mail to [email protected]

Web for the genericdomain.com is hosted at GoDaddy.

Mail for the genericdomain.com is hosted at Rack Space.

When the CF7 form is triggered the mail is being sent but not delivered to the remotely hosted (rack space) email server. I believe this is because the mail server ON the web server is NOT querying DNS to determine where to send the mail because it assumes everything is hosted locally.

Is there any way around this?

    Thanks in advance!

    -Christopher

Where can we see the website in question?

I figured it out. Sorry to have bothered you.

It was as I thought. MX for this domain is hosted on a different network than the web server. Since the destination email address domain was the same as the web hosted domain, the server was trying to deliver the form mail locally. It’s a setting in Cpanel. The default setting for mail routing is “Local Mail Exchanger”.

For Future Reference: In Cpanel, Under the “Email” section, click on “Email Routing” and select “Automatically Detect Configuration” or “Remote Mail Exchanger”. This will configure the web server to lookup MX in dns in stead of assuming that mail is controlled locally.

    Thanks for responding!
