• Just recently we’ve been made aware that the user confirmation (Mail (2)) has not been sending. This was working for a long time with no issues. I’ve double checked the FROM emails, and tried every variation I can think of. I’ve reverted the CF7 plugin from v4.2.1 to v4.0.3, and it’s still doing it. Or rather not. GoDaddy server. Strange that the primary email sends no problem, from the SAME email address, which exists as an actual account on the server. But the Mail (2) will not. Any insights?

  • Though the plugin successfully sends millions of emails every day, there are a host of issues that can stop or delay emails on both the sending and receiving ends. It depends entirely on your local Server & WordPress configuration. You will need to investigate this issue for your particular local configuration.

See Contact Form 7 Email Issues. There is a link at the bottom of the page to a comprehensive and detailed article which covers many issues. Most people that work through this information appear to be able to resolve their email sending & receiving issues.

I recommend you focus initially on any differences in you??r setup of Mail (2) from Mail.

what are the email addresses? i was having a problem with GoDaddy not sending emails if the domain was the same as my website because of the cPanel MX Entry setting. By default it’s set to Local Mail Exchanger in which case the web server attempts to process the email. If the mailbox doesn’t exist on the web server (that is, if you’re using Google Apps or Office 365 for email or any other host) it will dump the messages. You solve the problem by logging into cPanel and changing the setting to Remote Mail Exchanger in which case the web server allows the MX records to determine who should handle the email.

The Mail 1 sends fine, so I don’t think it would be an MX issue, although we’ve had that problem too with GD in the past. The mail that isn’t sending is from an existing mail user on GD, and to the person who sent the form, so a different email address every time. This worked just fine for months and months, and just stopped working earlier this spring (not sure).

The client has been on the phone with GD support, and they say the server email function is fine. Of course. Please advise.

mohammedissa – Your issue is totally different than mine, and deals with a different plugin. Please don’t post to this thread. Thanks.

Strange that the primary email sends no problem, from the SAME email address, which exists as an actual account on the server.

Obviously mail 1 and mail 2 are different in some way. To troubleshoot this you need to see 1) what’s being sent to the server and if possible 2) the reason the server is rejecting it.
