Magazine Theme

  • I am looking for a theme for my icelandic online magazine.

    If i tell you a little about the magazine…this magazine has been in creaton for some time now and there are about 4 people that are currently working on this project. This isnt the biggest of things but we also have guest writers ready and more stuff like that.

    I have been looking around for one for some time now but i havent found anything that does the trick. Although i have found some sites powered by WordPress that i really like (for exemple Mudsugur and Split Magazine).

    Now i am just crying out for help! I would be very thankful if someone could point out to me some themes that could possible be useful to me.

    Sites like Mudsugar are heavily customized. As far as I’ve seen there isn’t one theme solution for everything an online magazine might want. So you basically, start with a theme that has the shape you want and start putting in your own graphics > then adding plugins > customizing the CSS > and tweaking it to do just what you want.

    WordPress starts off kinda lean and mean but you can add a ton with plugins/widgits quickly, and make it look sharp like Mudsugar if you have Photoshop and CSS skills.

    AlastairSon-Of-Kjartan, if you explain more specificly what you want to do, you are much more likely to get specific advice.

    We sought to put out a quartely e-zine and settled on WordPress — absolutely perfect because it is so elastic. We found a theme we liked and did a few modifications, though I wouldn’t say we “heavily modified” the theme. We put up a working sandbox at https://www.neches.net and went to some effort to explain our choices in the “About’ page.

    P.S. While we are very pleased with the way we assigned categories and the many ways we used Custom Fields, here is a whole other concept by Leon Killat and he put his idea in an easily deployed download.
