I’m on a Mac and am having trouble with paragraph returns when I paste text into WP write post windows. I installed the “paste text” plugin, but now we only get paragraph spacing when using Internet Explorer.

IE is no longer available for the Mac. I can’t use Safari with WP because I don’t get a full user interface menu, so I’ve been using Firefox.

    Any way to fix this?

  • What are you pasting from?

I’ve tried everything from Appleworks to Textedit to TextWrangler and Word. The “paste text” plugin has two options, one for pasting from Word and one for pasting plain text. Neither works for me on a Mac using Firefox, nor my friend on a PC using Firefox. Only works if my friend uses IE on his PC, which I naturally don’t have.

What Mac are you using? I use a iMac and a Macbook Pro and don’t have any problems cutting from any program I use (same ones you use plus more) and firefox and Safari. That seems really strange? What OS are you running? Tiger or before?

One thing you can do is pick up a text editor like Jedit and paste into that. That fore sure will take out any ‘external’ formatting. Then copy that text and paste it.

The only thing I can think of that might be different from us is that I don’t have the ‘rich text editor’ option checked on my wordpress setup. I would suggest turning it off and trying that or the text editor (such as Jedit or something else) that doesn’t understand formatting from other programs.

If I turn off text editor in the Users windown, I lose the interface options, including the paste text plugin button.

UPDATE: But in Camino the buttons stay, though every other combination of pastes doesn’t work: No paragraph breaks.

Oh, and it’s a brand-new iMac with the latest version of everything.

I guess I’m sorry that I can’t think of anything here, but I am sure someone else should be able to help. I am just a simple APPLE-C and APPLE-V copy and paste kind of guy….
