• I spent a week troubleshooting why my WP blogs were timing out after June 15th, 2011. After a week, none of the techs who replied could figure out what was going on. I had multiple ping services including Pingdom alerting me of site outages because my server was not responding after 30 seconds. My response time went from 3 seconds average to 15 seconds average.

I finally got a hold of a senior tech who confirm Lunarpages migrated to Cloud Linux and has set up parameters to slow down response time if the account’s cpu went over 2%. There were no warnings, no notices, and your viewers will simply see their browsers time out.

If you noticed your WP sites slowing down to a crawl, this may be the reason. Check in cpanel and look at your cpu utilization under resource usage stats at the bottom. If you can’t get your cpu usage down, your only option is to move to another host.

I signed up with Cloudflare.com for a free account and that seems to be helping. Cloudflare.com is not a webhost but a cloud service that works with your existing sites.
