LTR and RTL scripts on a page

Hello!

This is one of those “not even sure what question I need to ask” problems… I’m translating my website into Arabic. A problem arises when I have English script on an Arabic page, which is necessary sometimes for various reasons. All the script on the Arabic pages automatically runs right-to-left, whether it is Arabic script or not. I’ve tried using <dir=LTR> tags in various ways to override the script handling, but with no success.

Basically, I’d like to know where to go from here. What makes the page render right-to-left when it detects the language is Arabic. Is it WordPress? Is it the theme? Is is something else? Any suggestions very much appreciated!
