Lowercase tags

Hi there.

Stupid question I guess but I would prefer my tags to be in all lowercase when they appear on the tagcloud – how do I do that?
I have tried to write them with lowercase but the frontletter always changes and I cannot figure out why.
I am using only the built-in tag option in WP2.3.
