Low resolution makes the thumbnails grainy

I added the plugin onto my homepage, but when I look at the grid of images, everything is grainy. I am guessing that I did something wrong, since it isn’t useable this way. It looks unprofessional to have such low quality images pulled onto my site. What can I change to make the thumbnails look better?
