Low ranking on Google since Nimble

    Hello
    A few months ago I’ve redone entirely the look of my website and most pages with Nimble.
    Previously I was in the first 5 results on page 1 in Google for my niche; now I am lost on page 2!
    This despite having rather good visits on my website (from social media posts) and publishing regularly articles with a lot of content.
    So I’m thinking that Nimble on front page didn’t help my SEO, quite the contrary.
    Possible mistake. I created a new empty frontpage then used Nimble builder for the look and content. I didn’t take care of the SEO description and the title of this empty frontage that stayed blank, as all the content was then build through Nimble builder.
    Could it be from this? I’ve now added a better title to this frontage and a SEO description. But I was under the impression that it was pointless as this blank page wouldn’t be “read”, instead it’s the Nimble builder page that is read.
    Is there actually a way in Yoast to edit the SEO of the actual Nimble builder built page, rather than the blank page that support the Nimble builder content? I hope I’m clear in what I’ve described…
    If you have other ideas on why my website has tanked since I’ve reorganised it with Nimble builder, I am all ears. On page 2 I am obviously invisible and it’s distressing.

    I’ve found and read this post, where something a bit similar was pointed out

    So basically while I understand that the content of the page is properly crawled by Google, using Nimble on the front page didn’t improve my ranking at all – quite the opposite. Which makes me think that the way the page is built is not optimal for Google, at least for a frontpage. I welcome your thought on this…I’ve now built a 2 menu system on Nimble for this frontpage so it’s a bit challenging to go back to “just” customizr for my pages.

    How can I actually edit the metadescription of my front page once it’s been built in Nimble, for example? Thank you.

    Hello,
    Thanks for posting those questions.
    Before going more into details, please note that Nimble Builder content is now integrated with Yoast analyzer and other SEO plugins analyzer ( SEO Press, Rank Math ). Which means that the content added with Nimble Builder will be taken into account by Yoast analyzer when fine tuning keywords and other SEO parameters.     About the title and description meta tags : they are actually printed in your page markup when set with an SEO plugin. Nimble Builder uses core WordPress hooks ( typically wp_head() ) when printing a page, l which allows any SEO plugin to print meta tags.

    Yes absolutely. When you add Nimble Builder sections to a page or a post, you’ll be able to edit the SEO settings when editing the post/page in the core WordPress edit screen. Yoast analyzer will take into account both the WP content and Nimble Builder’s content.
    For the home page, when you display the latest posts, it’s a little different because there’s no page to edit in WordPress. In this case, the SEO plugin will allow you to optimize the title and description meta tags, and Nimble Builder won’t prevent it.

    More globally, Nimble Builder by itself won’t impact your SEO results. It could impact negatively for example if it prevented meta tags to be printed, or if it was very heavy to load which is not the case.
    What is important in terms of SEO is independant from Nimble Builder. The question to focus on is that the content (generated with NB or anything else) complies with SEO requirements : properly structured ( H1 tag for example ), relevant keywords, etc.

    Thanks for this answer. I hear what you are saying, but it’s really since using Nimble on the front page that ranking went lower; although I’ve reorganised the website on other pages too. Could it be that the order in which my front page presents elements – first a slider, then featured pages, then the blog, and finally some content presenting who I am with my key words – is not ideal? And that the text with my keywords should be read before other elements? I’d be happy to put the text before the blog for example, but was not able to do that in Nimble…

    I’m not SEO expert so I wouldn’t be able to say if your content on home is optimized for SEO. You might want to use an online SEO tool for that ( if not done already ).

    About the order of the content block, it can be set precisely when using only Nimble Builder ( like when starting from a blank page with Nimble Builder ), but it’s more complicated when using a mix of theme content combined with Nimble Builder.

    I have written a meta-description in Yoast for this home page (at least the blank page on which the Nimble architecture is built on) but cannot see this meta-description when I look at the source online for the frontend/home of my site.
    So what do I do wrong? how to integrate this description in the source?

    I think I’ve solve the problem. It needed to be edited under “homepage” in yoast, not the page on which I’ve built my Nimble architecture…
