• After re-syncing I got 241 new subscribers. Why?
    I hope those are legitimate subscribers that agreed to subscribe and was not added due to a bug in the plugin!

    How can I see in an order if they selected to subscribe from that order?

    Thanks!

    Hey @ben72

    Within each order there’s a Custom field that contains a boolean value determining what the subscription status choice was at the time of that order. 1= True and 0 = false – meaning if the customer checked the box at the time of the order they were subscribed = 1. And if they didn’t they were synced as non-subscribed (depending on your plugin configuration)

    Please note that this value doesn’t update if their subscription status changes after that order, again this order custom fields merely captures the subscrition choice at time of order.

    @builtbyjordan OK, I see.

    There really should be an option to not change subscribers on re-sync. If you have subscribers added who have since unsubscribed it can get really messy! Can you please add this as a feature request?

    I solved it by archiving all subscribers I did not send the last campaign to and then manually un-archive a few that either signed up through a form on my website which I get emails from and a few with mailchimp_woocommerce_is_subscribed set to 1 in the order. I noticed that custom field is only added for those who selected to subscribe.

    Thanks!

    Hi @ben72, thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We understand the importance of ensuring subscriber statuses are correctly maintained during synchronization. While our system is designed to keep subscriber data in sync, including through mechanisms that might not be visible to our users, such as webhooks, there can be external factors affecting this process. We recognize the need for a feature that allows users flexibility in managing these settings. Although adjustments might impact different users in various ways, we’re committed to exploring this issue further to find a balanced solution.

    Thanks @khugate! Through looking at my dmarc reporting it looks like subscription confirmations were sent out to all those ~250 new subscribers. Now I’m afraid to re-sync your plugin with Mailchimp as that would probably happen again. There really need to be a way of re-syncing without adding subscribers from orders as they might have unsubscribed and therefore MUST NOT be subscribed again!

    You have this option in the settings:
    * Send all data to your Mailchimp Audience, including subscribers and transactional customers
    * Only sync subscribers. No transactional customers will be sent to your Mailchimp Audience
    You should add:
    * Do not sync subscribers. Use during re-sync.

    Or just don’t touch subscriber status when re-syncing as there is a good chance you will add subscribers who have unsubscribed since their order.

    Thanks!
