Lots of requests for wpad.dat

  • I just checked my Live Traffic and noticed that I have tons of requests for a file called “wpad.dat” directly in my root folder (mysite.com/wpad.dat) – but it is a file that does not exist, so it throws a 404.

    The weird thing is that all the requests come from my own IP address.

    As far as I can google, wpad.dat is a file that is used to define web proxies – something that should not be related to my WordPress site, right?

    Any idea what’s going on?
