Lots of false blocks recently

    As of a couple of weeks ago, I have noticed (on many of the sites I run Wordfence on) that MANY people are being incorrectly blocked with this error:

    Exceeded the maximum number of page not found errors per minute for humans.

    I have changed nothing in the settings on any of these sites, this error and blocking is just going haywire. Lots and lots of people who DID enter the correct, existing URLs are being blocked!

  • Hello Stephen,
    could you check Wordfence Live traffic view “Pages not found” and possibly your servers access logs and see if there is some issue there with 404s that you haven’t had previously?

    Could you also check and let me know what settings you have under “Rate Limiting Rules” on Wordfence “Options” page?
