Do you use CAPTCHA or one of the other spam preventors? They aren’t fool proof, but they will keep the bot’s and some of the spam software from getting through.

If not, try using Fast Secure Contact Form

I personally use a combo of CAPTCHA and TypePad AntiSpam (a free version of akismet). The amount of spam that I have to deal with has diminished greatly.

At this point my blog I just use a simple setting that mod must approve 1 message before they can post comment. It’s good for low level traffic blogs starting off.
