• ERROR: The email could not be sent. Your site may not be correctly configured to send emails. Get support for resetting your password.
I start to get this error and can’t find the source.
My site mail functions are fine. I am getting all emails and notifications sent from the site, but when someone tries to recover the password, the error message pops up.
I even used the plugin “Check email” and received the test email without a problem. I have 6 WP sites on the same shared server and only the dvvlc.com generates the error.
For testing purposes I have created a user with ID 0000.

Give this a read, it contains methods to reset your password when the email isn’t working.

Thank you Jan, but I do know this article. My concern is the 80 users of the website that I maintain. They require to be able to retrieve their passwords as they were doing for years, and now it is faulty for an unknown reason. Everything else being emailed without a problem, just the lost password option doesn’t work. I need that function to work properly.

I think I found the solution. After trying many different SMTP plugins I installed the Post SMTP plugin and the lost password link start to work. Also, this plugin doesn’t block the WP senders’ name by default like the other SMTP plugins.
Still couldn’t find the real reason of the problem, because everything else was working, but at this time the problem was solved my installing the Post SMTP plugin.
If anyone has a way to find the problem, please reply to this post.
