lost visual after editing a page/post

I was editing a page and, after editing, pressed the “update” button. It appeared to be updating, but after it was done updating I can no longer see anything on my edit screen for any posts or pages. The function icons are gone and my words are gone; however, the pages and posts are still active. The edit screen still shows the number of words at the bottom of the edit screen, and when I “view page” the website shows the page/post as it normally would.

How do I recover the visual?
