I knew this would happen. Nothings ever easy. I upgraded and I lost the sidebar. I also lost the footer.

Depends of what is ‘lost’.

The CSS seems not properly done, since in IE some sort of sidebar is showing, while the background for the same area is missing in FireFox.

If you are using FireFox – there is a great plugin that shows you how your DIV and CSS properties are set:

Install it and use the OUTLINE function to see how the DIVs works.

It also allows you to edit the CSS live and see the changes immediatly. Please don’t forget to copy the CSS from FireFox onto you site … because the changes apply only for what you see in FireFox … nothing is saved to your server until you do so yourself …

I’ve checked….double checked….triple checked.

How could it all just disappear? I can’t even select another theme to use. The default theme’s don’t come up….nothing.

It looks like you still have some old code on your website? The HTML clearly says something about 1.2 mingus. Are you sure you deleted all old *.php as suggested by the instructions in the codex?

does this mean that the layout I’ve been working on won’t work with version 1.5?

The original index was mingus 1.2

If I can’t use the original template then how do you incorporate your theme? Does this mean totally starting over?

I’ll delete everything off the server and start from scratch but how do I keep my archives? How can you use the archives if they were built with 1.2

Just shoot me….

1. Have you made a backup of everything?

2. Your old index.php won’t work – even if you drop it into themes (as far as I know)

3. You might need to modify your old ‘theme’ to make it work with 1.5

4. Your archives are in the database and will not be deleted if you get rid of the old WP1.2 files – oof course don’t delete any of your pictures you might have on the server …

I just now completely wiped out everything on the server. I kept my images and my index.php and my stylesheet and a copy of wp-config.php on my computer.

I installed WP 1.5

I ran wp-admin/upgrade.php

Everything went smooth. I copied my images folder to the wordpress folder and I copied my wp-config.php which replaced the one on the server.

I can call up my admin page, I can see my posts, It says my theme is the default theme for WP 1.5 but I still can’t see anything. White page…no ink

What now?
