Lost Subscribers

We have found after paying for ads and making a massive marketing effort over the past 2 months that one of our main forms has not been functioning properly and sending subscribers to a ‘blank’ group on mailchimp. We only have one group on Mailchimp so when we renamed it we didn’t anticipate the plugin needed to be changed too when there is an API. Shouldn’t this be automatic?
Is there any way we can recover these emails?
