Hello. I have to extract the stats for our site since the beginning of the year. To my surprise, it looks that no stats were recorded since around Apr 15. How do I reconnect the stats to the site?

    Thanks

    Hi there, @normandrivard,

It’s likely possible that any stats have been fetched for your site, if it wasn’t correctly connected to Jetpack. We must have a working connection in order to track stats.

I checked the connection for your site, and it is indeed broken. While your site is publicly accessible, we cannot access your site’s XML-RPC file. Jetpack and other plugins and apps use this file to connect to your site. It must return the following message:

XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.

You can see a working example here: https://wp.cloud/xmlrpc.php

Since your site returns a 404 error for this page, I would recommend that you check the following:

    • Can you see the /xmlrpc.php file at the root of your WordPress installation when accessing your site via FTP? If you don’t, then please try re-installing WordPress. You can do this by going to the Dashboard -> Upgrades page, then click the “Reinstall” button.
    • Do you use any security plugins that may block access to this file? If so, could you try to disable them? You might also want to check your site’s .htaccess file for any rules that might be blocking access to the xmlrpc.php file.
    • Does your hosting provider block access to this file? If you don’t find any plugin that may block access to the file on your site, I would recommend that you get in touch with your host.

Once we are able to access your site’s xmlrpc.php file, please try to reconnect your site:
    https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/#reconnecting-jetpack

Hope that’s all clear! Let us know if you manage to fix that and reconnect Jetpack, so we can look at your Stats status. Thanks!

    Hello @normandrivard,

Do you have updates about this? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no activity, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!

Hello Stef and thanks for your reply.

Yes, there is a xmlrpc.php file at the root of my installation directory. Currently, when I try to access it (https://www.faaq.org/wp/xmlrpc.php), I got a blank page with a return code 200 (not 404), which is consistent with the fact that I do have stats since July 22. The problem is that I have no stats at all from mid-April to mid-July. I know the stats exist somewhere, they’re not really lost. Is there a way to recuperate them?

    Thanks

    Hi there, @normandrivard,

Is it possible that the site was disconnected from Jetpack during the time you don’t see stats—mid-April to mid-July?

I checked your stats<span style=”box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;”>, and I can confirm the data is missing completely, which is typical of a Jetpack disconnection. I don’t see any track records of</span>?Identity Crisis,?either, which could have been another possible cause. If that happened, we could recover the stats, while if Jetpack was just disconnected, there is no way to recover the missing stats.

Do you remember if you have recently changed the site URL, or moved it to a staging mode?

As for the current connection issue, I’d recommend reporting the xmlrpc.php problem to your hosting provider, which should be able to fix it for you. Also, check with the host that our IPs range is fully allow-listed, so when the xmlrpc.php page issue is fixed, you can reconnect Jetpack and hopefully it will connect okay.

Let me know how you get on!
