I’ve come in today and all of the ingredients, instructions and pictures from my last 4 recipes have disappeared.

This is the only error in the debug log

    Hi there,

I’ve never seen or heard of this issue before.

What version of the plugin do you have activated?

The recipes are still showing up on the WP Recipe Maker > Manage page but they are empty inside?

Did you install any new plugins recently or anything like that?

    Kind regards,
    Brecht

Hey Brecht, thanks for your response.

Yes the plugin was updated prior to me adding the recipes that have been effected. The new version of the plugin is 9.4.3.

The ingredients, instruction& pictures are also missing in the dashboard, in the recipe management area.

Following the update to the plugin, all of the autoincrement settings in the database disappeared. So I went in and added them back in.

I then created the new recipes, and created a page to display them. I check the page and the recipes had appeared as expected.

The data seems to have disappeared overnight last night.

    Thanks for your help,

    Jack

“all of the autoincrement settings in the database disappeared” sounds worrying. I don’t see how WP Recipe Maker could have done that as we don’t alter the database like that.

If you’re comfortable accessing the database directly, could you check what’s in the wp_postmeta table for these recipes? The instructions and ingredients should be in there.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure the auto increment thing is not related to this plugin, i reckon the hosting provider backed up and restored the database or did an upgrade.

Those recipes do have entries in the postmeta table but there is no row with meta_key wprm_ingredients or wprm_instructions [crying face]

Is there anywhere I might look to see if I can recover them ?

    Thanks for your help,

That’s strange. If the recipe were edited through WP Recipe Maker I would expect the meta key to be there but contain an empty array.

We have the Recipe Revisions feature, but that would only create a revision if it was edited through the plugin, and it seems like that might not have been the case.

Maybe your webhost has backups of the database that do still contain the correct postmeta?
