Lost password not working

  • Hello all

    I am trying to change my password for my website because for some reason the password I have is not working. However, every time I click the “Lost Your Password?” button it just brings me back to the log in page asking me my username and password.

    Anyone else run into this?

    Any help is appreciated thanks!

    In WordPress, there is more than one way for Rsetting Your Password . I find the phpMyAdmin method to be the most straight-forward, as you’ll be changing the password directly in the database, and your username will be revealed as part of the process.

    I went through the PHPMyAdmin steps and it didn’t work for me. I noticed in that tutorial there are these steps:

    – Locate your Username under user_login
    Click edit (may look like a pencil icon in some versions of phpMyAdmin)
    – Your user_id will be shown, click on Edit

    Do you have to change these? Because you don’t have to click edit on this stuff to change your password.

    EDIT: I have also tried doing the FTP password change by editing the functions.php and re uploading the file but that won’t work either. Not sure what to do here!

    Before tweaking DB to change password:
    Backup: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups.

    I have backups. I still need help on this is it possible to contact WordPress and have them send an email to reset since their function to do so on my site isn’t working?

    I just tried doing the emergency password reset, yet when I go to “https://mysite.com/emergency.php” I just get the log in screen again.
