Lost password email feature not working

I don’t have access to the database so I use the email function with login: admin to have a new password sent. I get an email with a new password, but the login field is blank. When I try to log in using admin and the new password, it doesn’t go through (a blank login screen appears). Does this mean that the new password is not being associated with login: admin?
