• We are having trouble with out ‘lost password’ page not working.
    When you enter your email address and select ‘Get Password’, and error pops up saying email can’t be sent. And I can confirm no email is received (spam or inbox).

    Our site emails are working though – the Users get the ‘set password’ email when they are added to the site and if I select ‘Send reset email’ from a Users profile, they receive that email.

    The issue seems to be isolated to the lost password page.

    I have done the following to try and rectify it:
    – Removed and re-entered the shortcode on the page and updated.
    – Hit ‘save changes’ in the Theme My Login settings to try ‘resetting’ the pages
    – Ensured the plugin is up to date

    Any other ides how I can get this working please? All other aspects of the plugin seem to be working fine so I’m stumped!

    Hi Jeff,

    The error message is:

    Error: The email could not be sent. Your site may not be correctly configured to send emails. Get support for resetting your password.

    As mentioned, other emails are being sent from the site (e.g when I select ‘send password reset’ from a Users profile, the email is sent/received, or when I change a membership level and select ‘notify user’, the email is successfully sent/received etc) it just seems to be an issue on the /lostpassword/ page.

    Any ideas?? We did recently change our email servers from Gmail over to MS Outlook so wondering if there is a known compatibility issue there?

    That error occurs when wp_mail() fails. When wp_mail() fails, it is usually because of a server misconfiguration, such as not having sendmail installed, or incorrect SMTP settings if using SMTP.
