• Hi – I installed WP 3.0.4 in a folder whilst building my client’s site, then moved it over to the root folder when they were happy with it to go live.

It was working fine before I moved it – I updated everything (manually) and some things weren’t working. I decided to delete it all and reload it, but of course the DB is still holding all the old input data.

I get the first page (index.php) but none of the links work to the pages or posts:

    https://hillscircleoffriends.org/

They are all there in the WP dashboard – I can see them to edit them, but when the menu is clicked, or any links within the site to posts or pages are clicked, I get this error:

    Not Found

The requested URL /about-2/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.14 OpenSSL/0.9.7a mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at hillscircleoffriends.org Port 80

    Please help!

  • What do you have the permalink options set as? You may have to change them from what you currently have to something different, save the changes and then change it back to how you would like it to be.

Looking at the pages that currently exist on the site you posted it looks like all the pages have copies considering they all link to {name}-2. You may have to delete the current pages you have and then make sure you go into the Trash section for the pages and remove the ones that you don’t need.

Hi – thanks for your response. I tried deleting the pages and recreated them, which is why the names are showing up as a second lot.

Do I have to remove the deleted pages? They weren’t working before I deleted them anyway.

I guess I am happy to start again, again as i have a copy everything. But hoped there’d be an easier way. But I don’t know how to compltely clear the DB as this is what I tried the first time. I guess the simplest way would be to delete the whole DB and create a new one?

You shouldn’t have to clear out the database. Did you go into the Trash section under the Post/Page pages and remove the posts?
