lost only the front end. help

  • hello

    after some smart movements with ny ftp i lost the frontend. the backend is working fine.

    at the frontend i have only the main page. if i click on any page i get:

    Not Found
    The requested document was not found on this server.

    I re-install the theme,also used the default but nothing change. Strangely is working fine in the back end.

    any idea?

  • what kind of ftp movements did you do? What files did you move, and where? what was the goal?

    -i put inside the main installation the theme files.
    after that nothing was visible
    -then i remove them.
    after that the main page is visible, but nothing more. the admin panel is working fine

    OK, you put the theme files into your main wordpress directory? Or you put your theme, still inside it’s folder into your wp-content ->themes folder?

    If you just put your themes files into your wordpress directory, that may have caused issues….

    ok cool, now, you’ve deleted all the files/folder for that theme?

    So now you are only seeing your front page, in the default theme? Are all the files for the default theme present?

    yes.
    i left only the clear installation files.
    i have delete all the themes. i left only the default for wordpress.

    hmm..all I can really think of is a permalinks issue then….

    have you messed with your permalinks at all? Maybe a reset is in order? Do you have an .htaccess file in your wordpress directory?

    uupppsss, i use a plug in Category Order to rearrange the categories. I did it some days ago and none problem ever occurred

    yeah, I forgot to ask the #1 issue first, sorry,

    Have you disabled all plugins and tested your site?

    cache clear.
    all plug in disabled

    nothing change

    all I can think of is to delete your .htaccess, then reset your permalinks to let wordpress generate a new one, after that, I’m at the end of my knowledge…..hopefully someone else can pick up, sorry!

    am thinking to delete the $^%*(^&&* thing and to reinstall everything in 2-3 days.
    at least i know that they will work
