• I cannot access my blog ??? and it does not display on the internet ???

Last night, while posting to my blog ( https://candlekits.qarf.com) I had problems publishing the post (I was clicking on the publish button and nothing happened) but finally, at one point it published.

When accessing the blog on internet or via wp-admin, often got this error message, but inconsistently :

    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    Apache/2.0.63 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.63 OpenSSL/0.9.8b DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at candlekits.qarf.com Port 80

I also noticed that on the internet my blog categories were not displaying. Instead No Categories was showing. ??

(I’m working from a PC laptop with Vista)

So, I decided to access my blog with another computer, my office desk computer. Well…the Categories were displayed but when clicked upon, gave the Error 404. ??

Went back inside wp-admin, and checked the CATEGORIES. They were all there listed.

This is now chinese to me….

By the same token, I noticed that version 2.8.6 was available so I said to myself that maybe it would solve the problem if I would upgrade.

I first tried to get a backup plugin but got the answer that version were incompatible with mine.

I downloaded the 2.8.6 zip file on my HD but did nothing yet with it.

I just changed the Blog Title( not the URL) to “Candle Kits etc” instead of “Candle Making Kits…etc)

    and now…. I lost my blog …

I cannot access it and even if I try via FTP (Filezilla) I cannot guarantee I have the right user name & password..and cannot connect.

    Pffffff….

    My spirits are down..

Any help !! will be greatly appreciated..

    Janice

  • First of all you should look in your log files as the error message suggests. I tried the website and got 500 error a few times, but most of the time everything was fine.
Another option would be to contact your hosting provider and tell them about the problem. Maybe they upgraded something and forgot to configure it correctly.

Thanks offspring! Helps to feel better knowing someone heard my desperate call ??

This blog was created during the 30DC (thirtydaychallenge) in Aug 2008, so WordPressDirect are hosting it on their server. Will get in touch with them as you suggest.

Do you think it would change something if I reverted to a “Default Basic WP Theme”, deactivate all the plugins and try to install manually the 2.8.6. version ?

Have a great day and all the very best.

    Merci !

I don’t think its a WordPress problem (although I might be wrong). It may really help if you can take a look on your error log – it may provide additional details.
