• I’ve lost all the mail templates (the field where you configure the output of your emails with help of short codes) after updating several Contact Form 7 plugin installations.

Several customers submitted that their forms are not working and that there’s always a validation issue, calling out for the administrator of the website. After some research I’ve found, that in all forms, the mail section was empty. “From”, “To”, “Subject” fields where empty and the whole email templates were lost.

What’s the reason for this and how can I fix that? I have a lot of websites and a lot of Contact Form 7 installations and bunch of forms.

What other plugins and themes do you use on the sites? What versions of WordPress and Contact Form 7 do you use?

All the websites have Advanced Custom Fields and WP Migrate DB Pro installed, that are the only two they have in common.

All use the current version of WordPress.

On one site, the described problem happened at the update to Contact Forms 3.7.2 (update was made with an older version of the plugin), other site I noticed the problem after the update to 3.7.1 (which is the version that is used on this site now).

I tried to update one site with the plugin version 3.7.1 to 3.7.2, locally, so see what’s happening, but the error problem didn’t occur. I guess, there could be a bug in the update to 3.7.1, but I’m not sure about that.

Themes are all mostly self-made. Some sites use Themes from Elmastudio. But none of the themes have (write) access to Contact Form 7.
