    Hi all,

So I already have a domain that’s pointed towards the free blog I created on wordpress.COM

I got new hosting today and did a ‘quick install’ of the www.remarpro.com software through on my hosting (the other option was to download it to my desktop which I didn’t do).

I’d like to create a new site using www.remarpro.com software as it’s much more intuitive than wp.COM. But I’m totally lost. I’ve read all the forums but don’t know what to do from here.

Do I do something with databases before the wp.ORG software will work? Right now it doesn’t even show up as being loaded.

    Did you remove that “pointing”?

Is this about the same domain that is pointed to wp.com? It will not work until you get it to “point to itself” ??

I thought that, but then won’t my current website go offline?

It’s important (for business) that it stays online as long as possible.

Well, I don’t know what your plan is for the transfer.

What do you want to have on your hosting place? A replica of the existing blog and deleting the old one?
    Something else?

Before you start jumping all around, sit down, think, make a plan and then ask specific questions.

Sorry, I do have a plan, but you’re right I was being vague!

I would like to move my existing wp.com site over and, I was hoping, to be able to use wp.org software to update it with new plugins (like galleries).

I just pointed the nameservers to my new host, that’s the first step I guess!

    Yep.
Now take a look at the instllation instructions:
Installing_WordPress and install the package downloaded from here.
When it is installed, go to your wp.com blog and do an export.
Then Import it at your new blog.

    Add themes, plugins etc.
    That’s all.

    Thanks that worked.
