Hi, I am helping someone to get rid of a broken code that appears on his website. It seems that the function.php file is missing and I do not have a backup of the site. The person who created this theme is nowhere to be found. Is there a way to fix this? Thank you in advance!

  • Without a backup it’s going to be difficult to fix. Have you asked the hosting provider to see if perhaps they have backups. It’s a slim chance, but you never know.

Otherwise, you’ll have to download the theme and see if you can fix it by looking at all the files.

just use another theme, there are lot of beautiful themes, don’t stick to a old theme.

Thank you for the comments. It was a custom theme, designed by someone who we cannot contact. I will be redesigning this site next month. Meanwhile we wanted to fix that ugly broken code. I hoped there is a way to do it. Thanks!

If it is custom theme, then there is not a lot we can do to help. If you cannot manage this work yourself, perhaps you need to consider hiring someone to carry out the work for you?
