Lost Database Content of last month

  • Hello,
    I handle web development works for buenosairesstreetart.com. Two days ago my client Matt said he cannot find posts from the last month then i checked and found them missing. Also woocomerce orders were missing . Everything done in database for last month is lost. Photos etc are there on the server but database content is missing.
    What could be the reasons ? How can i get the data back. I never faced such issue before.
    Moreover i manage the server myself, its a shared web hosting server. No other user reported the issue of any data loss. I can perform server level commands too to get data back. Please help.

  • Do you have backups? If so, restore those and see what’s changed.

    If you don’t have backups, there’s a 99.9999999% chance that the data is gone for good. Anything that was on the server, but now isn’t, will be gone.

    I don’t have backups. Even if I do, I really want to know the reason. Please help me with some investigation/logging steps that I can perform on server or website level to know what happened exactly.

    The only thing that you can do is look at the servers logs to see what’s happened over the last month. It will be some very ahrd and very long investigation, but there’s nothing else that can be done. Unless you’ve installed a monitoring service or plugin that might give you osme more ideas, the only thing that you can do is trawl the servers logs to see if anything looks out of place.
