• Hello there,
I recently updated to WP 5.7.1, as well as the latest version of WPPA (which I love by the way). I didn’t notice at first, but now none of my galleries are showing up as they were before. When I looked inside, I noticed that there is now an old database file of my site that seems to have replaced a newer updated version (older version of galleries etc). I downloaded the most recent version of my database before updating. Do you know if I can simply, using php admin, import this slightly older version of my DB that I saved before updating, in order to restore my wppa galleries as before? The rest of the site works fine, but I lost all my previous galleries and their structures. When I use phpadmin to examine my current DB I see an older version that I used years ago. It’s strange. I’m glad I backed up my “current” working version just before updating, but I’m hesitant to just import it to see if it works! Thanks so much in advance for your input!

Ypou should find in your backup the following db tables:
    wppa_albums
    wppa_photos
    wppa_rating
    wppa_comments
    wppa_index
    wppa_iptc
    wppa_exif

and replace the current with your backup.
Then, run setup in Table VIII-A1 on the Photo ALbums -> Settings admin page

Thanks Jacob for your response. I understand what you are proposing. The problem is that I’m unable to open my backup sql file in order to export the correct tables, so that I can then import them into the current (corrupt) db via myphpadmin. I’m on a mac, and I’ve been trying with various programs but I’m unable to open my sql backup file. A simple text editor can open it, but not in table format so the data is a mess. Any advice? Thanks so much.

To be clear about what I’m experiencing: when I click on a post, in the place of the gallery I am seeing just the shortcode. But what is more troubling is that when I look at the parameters of my WPPA galleries, they are all my old galleries that I have since updated 2 years ago. All the changes that I made back then are lost. It’s very strange. So I have the backup db from when the site was working correctly, but I’m unable to poke around inside to export the tables that you recommend.

More info: and, if I look in my media uploads folder, all of my up to date images are present. So it’s juste the WPPA parts of the database that seems to have reverted. This may not be a WPPA issue, so I don’t want to bother you with tech support for the issue, but do you have any suggestions?

Maybe just install the backup of your entire db, and than update wp core again to fix the db version no of wp core on the dashboard -> Updates screen
