    Hello everyone,

my wordpress version is 5.4.7, and after the update installed itself I guess it introduced some changes to how users make posts and edit pages. When I want to make or edit a post or a page I lose all wordpress controls on the left and I get a white surface with the editing space in the middle.

I know this is probably a stupid question and everybody else is now using the new way of writing, but it’s really ineffective since I now have to make 2 clicks to go anywhere else in wordpress, and I used to only need 1 click (since the controls were on the left).

Is there a way to get the old way back?

    Thank you.

  • That’s probably the “Distraction-Free” writing mode.

Hit Ctrl + Shift + Alt + F (or Cmd + Shift + Alt + F on Mac) on your keyboard to toggle between the full editor mode and the distraction-free mode.

(You could also click the 3 dots at the upper-right corner of the editor, and click “Full-screen mode”)

I have this problem. I can’t write an article, a can’t see media files, nothing, no functions. Yesterday I couldn’t see the writing toolbar. I can’t editing any article. Possible last update wp?? Can I reset wordpress, or fix this problems??

    Thank you so much!

I can finally write “with distractions” again!

But strange the keyboard shortcut did nothing, I needed to use the 3 dots and toggle the fullscreen mode.
