Lost Categories when writing

  • When writing a post, the categories to select are no longer on the right of the form page. All posts automatically go under “General,” and I cannot change it with the “Edit” feature.

    This loss appeared spontaneously without any upgrades, template changes/editing, or anything else on my part.

    All Categories are still visible in the right sidebar when viewing the blog.

    What has happened, and how can I correct it?

  • PaulE, are you saying that the category choices within the Write page have disappeared?

    Had you made any changes anywhere else in the WP admin panel?

    Thank you, DianeV. Yes that is what happened, and I had changed nothing in the WP admin panel or anything else.

    Just as mysteriously it has returned. I am still at a loss for any explanation for the disappearance or the return of the feature. For now at least, it is working fine.

    hmm, not sure if this would actually make a difference, but what user level are you trying to post with? if you log in with your admin account can you see the categories then? if so, then just increase your user level for your account.
