We moved from a multisite/subsite to a fresh instance on the same network but in doing so lost our previous stats. The new site id is 104483940, but the account connection is giving:

Invalid request, please go back and try again.
    Error Code: invalid_request
Error Message: The URL stored by the Jetpack servers does not match your site. Please try disabling the Jetpack plugin, re-enable it, then connect again.

We changed the subsite (folders) url from /elcrp to /eastlothiancrp

The problem is correctly identified but the solution seems to require someone to identify which site or account to reconnect, or both.

We have used different accounts over time to login to wordpress.com and can see other sites missing that have lost access to (plausibly also accounts that have been closed).

Is there a sane way to recover this information without pestering jetpack support or sharing account information here?

    Thanks

    Hi there, @elcrp,

<span style=”box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;”>I checked the site ID 104483940 to see what URL it is connected to. <span style=”box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;”>The URL is different from the one you shared in your initial message—the URL I see with website ID 104483940 is?ourlocality.org?(which is well connected with Jetpack but has some account ownership hiccups to fix).</span>?</span>

When I check the Jetpack connection for eastlothiancrp.org.uk, I see a different site ID: 123124485. The connection is not working because Jetpack isn’t installed on that www.remarpro.com site.

If I understand correctly, you need to move the Stats from ourlocality.org to eastlothiancrp.org.uk. However, that would not match with what you said about the getting a new site ID, which is – on the contrary – assigned to ourlocality.org, which already has stats (eastlothiancrp.org.uk has no stats recorded).

I’d like to know the following in order to address this:

    • is it expected that eastlothiancrp.org.uk is not connected to Jetpack?
    • can you confirm that ourlocality.org is the site that needs to be connected with Jetpack?
    • what is the site URL that is the new site install that should replace the previous one after the multisite migration?

Once we understand that, we should be able to clarify the account ownership status (and fix it with the correct email address and Jetpack account) and migrate the stats to the correct site.

    Thanks!

    Thanks @erania-pinnera

Yes, there are a number of site connections that have gone wrong on the multisite, and as you say on the main site too. I will need to return to this when I have a bit more time to deepen where the connections are broken and whether there is a 3rd wordpress.com account associated with another username I thought was in use, but seems to have been deleted quite recently. Thanks again.

    Hey @elcrp,

Do you have updates about that, do you still need help? We usually close inactive threads after one week of no movement, but we want to make sure we’re all set before marking it as solved. Thanks!

Er not quite … I think I fixed the main account connection (ourlocality.org, which is a multisite with folders + optional domain mapping) and in doing so was distracted by some other missing connections, so forgot about this thread! I’ll look now.

    • is it expected that eastlothiancrp.org.uk is not connected to Jetpack?
    • I don’t quite understand, but this subsite has domain mapping and suffered a problem when we switched urls – see below
    • can you confirm that ourlocality.org is the site that needs to be connected with Jetpack?
    • This is the mother site and is now connected again so it would be good if you could verify that it is all OK, incidentally each subsite can activate Jetpack and make their own connection (though few projects do, unless we do it for them)
    • what is the site URL that is the new site install that should replace the previous one after the multisite migration?

    Old site: https://ourlocality.org/elcrp/

    New site without mapping: https://ourlocality.org/elcrp/

    New site url: eastlothiancrp.org.uk

Hope that is a bit clearer now.

Another query, I see that I did have an account satireicon, which maybe has some old account connections that were unintentionally lost. I can give you the original email address that was connected with that username, perhaps by email would be better.

A question for you, is there a nice guide or a suggested work process to ensure smooth transfer (of stats) when migrating urls? Or is it a matter of raising a ticket?

    Thanks for your patience

    Hi @elcrp

These sites are connected properly to Jetpack:

    • ourlocality.org
    • ourlocality.org/elcrp/

Eastlothiancrp.org.uk does not yet have a working connection to Jetpack. Please connect Jetpack on that site.

To move stats when migrating URLs, you will need to open a thread in the future. Since you also have questions about your WordPress.com account, please contact us via email:

When you reach out, please include a link to this thread.

    Thanks!

Thanks, done. Fuller details on the (partially working) Eastlothiancrp.org.uk (mapped to ourlocality.org/eastlothiancrp) connection sent …

    Hi @elcrp

Thanks for sending that over. I see the ticket in our system (internal reference #9356941).

Going forward, we’ll assist you with this issue via email so I am going to mark this thread as resolved.
