Loss of image quality in photo uploads

After I have edited my photos in Lightroom and/or Photoshop and then upload them, all of the editing I did is gone. I get a flat bland image. This has not always been the case. To check, I have uploaded again an image I had uploaded perhaps two years ago and the difference is clear. The older upload is bright and crisp and the new one is flat and dingy. My site is all about the image, so I am our of commission. What changed? How can I fix?
