Lose images/captions/descriptions on deactivation?

I want to deactivate NextGen Gallery for a while, but will probably want to reactivate it later. If I deactivate it will I lose my images/captions/descriptions? If so, I think they reside in wp-content/gallery/my gallery and /my gallery/thumbs. Is this correct? And is the easiest way to to save them for later to simply download and rename the “my gallery” and “thumbs” files, and then just upload them when I reactivate?
