Loop returns pages – not posts

    Hi, I’m building my first wordpress theme from scratch and have a confusing problem. I’ve searched the web for the solution but can’t find.

    My implementation of the wordpress loop is returning pages as the blog instead of the posts. It looks exactly as it should, except the content.

    I’m building it on my own private dev server, so I can’t give you a url to visit, but here is my loop code in case I’ve done something in there:

    edit: interestingly, if I click ‘next page’, it then shows posts. Only the default home page shows incorrectly.

  • In the Settings > Reading do you have the home page set to show a static page or “Your latest posts”? Just a guess since I can’t see your code.

    Yep – set to static page = home, posts shown on = home.

    Which is odd as I did not configuring, just installed it and left it.
