Sorry for the new thread, but I wanted to split this off from my old post. For 2 reasons:

    1. The original thread had a diff subject matter
    2. wanted to make it easier for others to find, if they ever have this issue

But I am trying to tie a certain category to a page. This is what was suggested in my old thread.

If even after this explanation you want to “assign” a category to a page, here’s what you have to do:
    1. Create a new page template and assign it to your page (press releases, in your case).
    2. After the regular Loop, create another Loop, this time setting it to display only the category you want (press, for instance).

That’s it! This way you won’t have to manually edit the “press releases” (sub)page very time a new post in the “press” category is added.

The problem is, I do not possess enough knowledge to make this happen. If anyone can share some of their expertise or experience that would be great. I really need help putting this together.

Review the Pages article and get a feel for create a Page Template.

Review Template Hierarchy and get a feel for how WordPress decides what template to use when display different parts of your blog.

You might also consider WHY you need to tie a Category to a Page as automatically presents you all the posts in a Category as part of it’s archiving ability. If you use the WordPress Default Theme, a link to a Category and the posts in that Category are presented in the sidebar and under each post. What more do you need to accomplish with “assigning categories to pages”?

Now, with that said, this thread seems to pertain…
