Looks like they are lying on their description: Bait & Switch

I’ve been a fan of Sumo Me, but I’m moving a client who has Sumo Me on his site to a new server with a fresh install, and apparently, they have removed integrations with emaillers (unless you pay…and the amount is more than a casual site will have budgeted).

Here it is in this description for the FREE version on www.remarpro.com:
“Do you provide instant connections to any email providers?
Yes, we provide instant integration with MailChimp, Aweber, Constant… ”

But when you get to the setup, the integrations are all for pro users. What the heck is the point? My client is going to be very upset, as he doesn’t have the budget to upgrade, so I guess we’re looking for a new solution. Bait & switch and I thought that this was NOT allowed on plugins on www.remarpro.com.

Very disappointed, as I’d give the plugin 4-5 stars if it wasn’t for the shady tactics.

So sumo, if you even care, a few suggestions:
Most of my clients are small businesses & nonprofits, and if they want to offer this as a paid option, then something like $29/yr would be doable. But $29/month, for something that was free last year? Seems like a scam to them.
Alternately, offer some sort of throttling – up to x number of sign ups per month is free, then a cost over that number… that would make it workable for small businesses, and they could see the value of your product when your product helps them get so many signups.

In any case, I’m very disappointed.
