I am testing out LiferLMS, and I am so confused. The course page and the lessons look like blogs, and they look like crap.

I thought it would look like a course, not a series of blog posts.

This is what my course home page looks like: https://beaconpointservices.org/course/running-your-editorial-business-like-a-pro/

Like a blog post. Not at all like a course home page. And my author bio is repeated several times on the page. It looks horrible.

I created one lesson to see what a lesson would look like. It also looks like a blog with my blog sidebar widgets of the subscribe to blog, blog categories, and the about me. I do not want that blog sidebar. That is for my blog, not my courses.

    Am I missing something?

    Hi @dsrt16

Thank you for reaching out to us.

This is likely because of the theme and not LifterLMS. LifterLMS simply gives you the functionality to create courses and memberships etc. However, your theme decides the styling.

At LifterLMS, we recommend using these themes: https://lifterlms.com/recommended-resources/#themes

You can also decide to use a page builder like Elementor or Divi. This will give you the opportunity to have more freedom in designing your courses or memberships.

Let us know if this helps.

I get that. But I am not talking about the styling (the font or colors or anything like that). I am talking about the fact that the sidebar on the right is my blog sidebar with blog category names, blog search bar, and subscribe to my blog bar.

The page is formatted EXACTLY how my blogs are, with social media share buttons on top, the blog content in the middle area, the blog sidebar to the right, and then a purple box around all of it. This shouldn’t happen.

It is literally like I posted a blog.

That information should not even appear on my course home page and lesson pages, so why are they? The point of getting a LMS plugin for me is so that my courses LOOK like courses, not like blog pages.

Did you look at my course home page that I linked to in my original comment? You can see it looks like a blog.

Please look at my course home page.https://beaconpointservices.org/course/running-your-editorial-business-like-a-pro/

I see that LifterLMS adds course sidebar and lesson sidebar widgets. However, I need my blog to look the same as it currently looks.

I need my course page and lesson pages to NOT look like my blogs. They need to have the course sidebars and lesson sidebars, not my blog sidebar with blog categories and such.

Is there not a way to have both a blog and a course on your website with LifterLMS? Does designing the course erase the design for my blog? This doesn’t really make sense to me.

It seems lifterLMS lesson and course pages are created in blog POSTS rather than in website pages, so it will just look like my blog? If that is true, then that makes no sense. You would have to know some of us would have blogs on our websites and we wouldn’t want the course to look like our blogs. Is there no way to make them PAGES rather than blog POSTS?

I have a theme already for my website. It is the theme I need for my website. I just need the course page and lesson pages to be pages not blog posts. I have to be missing something. It just doesn’t seem like developers would design an LMS that would be blog posts. That is ridiculous.

    Hi there,

    Thank you for the reply.

It seems your theme does not have LifterLMS Sidebar support. You can add this to your theme by following this guide: Adding LifterLMS Sidebar Support to your custom or third-party theme – LifterLMS

When that is done since you use Elementor(according to the email you sent to our support), I’ll suggest creating a course and lesson page template using Elementor and this should now allow your course and lesson pages to follow the design you’ve specified in Elementor.

There’s also a video guide that should help you with this process as well: (638) How To Save Time By Using Templates With LifterLMS + Elementor + Lifter Elements 2019 – YouTube

Let us know if this helps.

    Regards,

Since I haven’t heard back from you in a week I’m going to mark this thread as resolved. Don’t worry, if you have more questions or still need help just hit reply and let me know!

    Have a great day!
