    Hi All,
The feedback I seem to constantly be getting about my e-commerce website https://www.purchase.ie is that it looks dated (like a 1990s site!)
Although not completely convinced I would like to change the theme of the site to see if the sales conversion rate might in turn improve.
The problem is this is a customised wordpress site built with 9 different CSS files.
I’m afraid to change anything for fear of the knock on effects.
Anybody got any suggestions or advice?

For instant improvement, I’d banish the lime green to room 101 by implementing this css:

    .home .wp-caption,
    .home_box {background: #eee;}

    Hi Colm,

In my opinion, definitely your site could be improved, but you will have to decide which approach you want to take.

There would be two options, first you can partially improve your site over time and you can do some split test to see which variation generates better conversation rate.

Second option would be to create a totally new site. This way you can create a responsive theme so it will also work on the mobile versions. This will also give you the cleaner code with rich snippets which Google likes.

This is my one cent worth of thoughts! If you have any more questions, I am happy to help ??

@ Cubecolour. Thanks for the quick reply #eee is white eh? Where would I make this change do I have to log into the cpanel or just the ftp?

@ Ryan Yu. Again thanks for the quick reply. I think I will be sticking to the first option. I’m reasonably happy with how the site is performing from an SEO point of view particularly on google.ie. I guess I code set up 301 redirects for all the pages on the site but there is alot of content and it would be alot of hassle. People can and have carried out mobile transactions on the site eventhough it is not the easiest mobile site to use.
Really looking to make the look perhaps a bit more friendly and less dated and take it from there.

#eee would be a very pale grey.

You would edit via ftp & if you cannot find the most appropriate place to add those lines, it would probably work OK if just added to the end of the theme stylesheet.

Cheers Cubecolour. Now just to find where to locate the theme stylesheet lol!
Should it be in httpdocs when I log into the ftp?

Yes, look in wp-content, inside you’ll find themes and inside that one you’ll find the folder for your theme which will contain the theme stylesheet, style.css
