Looking for WP Stats

Are asking for suggestions? I just installed and use awstats since all the stuff is already logged by the web server. any of the wp stats plug-ins i tested added db tables and essentially were logging what i already have (via web server logs) for free (that is, no additional overhead via php code or database activity)

I definitely think the plug-ins are well written and serve a need, but for me I like the level of detail and tracking available with awstats, which i think exceeds by a large margin what i’ve seen written as a plugin.

again, i’m not saying they are bad, just not what i wanted.

carterco, I understand what you’re saying. The wp-useronline and wp-stats.php are just fine as “basic” WP plugins, but are not extensive or “accurate” on the stats and such. Where most ppl want to know what’s going on with their site and or blog’s..

However, GamerZ plugins are still awesome, and until someone else comes around with a better one and more extensive one..I guess we’ll just have to wait on it lol..

There might be even more plugins around, to use. Maybe just search or someone might drop a URL to one soon. =)

CG-Referrer does similar tracking (and referrer-spam prevention, and bot bouncing, …), though a lot of the cool stuff is in my upcoming release and not the current public one… ??

Certainly, any system doing tracking will hit the database and take up space. Any system using logfiles will generally take time processing the files, take up a lot of memory, or build its own cached versions of the data. ?? Generally, if I have access to awstats or equivalent, I use it to see the pretty graphs. But I like my own tracking of bots, feed access, searches, etc., that my upcoming release does. That’s just me.
