Looking for specific event plugin

Howdy folks,

Maybe you could help me find what I’m looking for. Google can’t help.
I need to have people subscribe to an online event (a radio show) and have them notified on or just before the time of the event by email. Recurring events would be an added bonus. The less bells and whistles, the better.
I’m open to using 3rd party services, but I believe email is the best route of notification as most people get notifications on their phones now.

Alternatively, how difficult would this be to code myself?
