    Hello,

we’ve been running WooCommerce on our site for a while now. Works like a charm, but the current setup is far from ideal. People call us for their orders regardless, mostly because they want things customized more than we can offer with WooCommerce as we run it now.

    What we’re looking for is the following;

You want to order some sandwiches for a business meeting. But everyone wants something else. Some do want butter, others don’t. Some want brown bread, others white, or a ciabatta. Maybe even a soft bun. Some have allergies we have to take into account.

Long story short: If you want to order something you want to select everything per sandwich in 1 row, eg:

Column 1: Topping – Column 2: Type of bread – Column 3: Brown or white, – Column 4: Butter yes/no – Column 5: Comments (such as allergies).

And that for as many sandwiches as they want.

Column 1 to 4 could be dropdown menu’s of which 3 and 4 could be radio buttons. Column 4 should automatically disable/select if they pick a kind of bread that only has a white or brown option. Option 5 should allow 1 line of text such a ‘peanut allergy’ or ‘no lettuce’ or whatever.

Another requirement is that people should be forced to order at least an X amount of something. Say 5 sandwiches, for example. But we found that it’s very confusing for people if the amount is already set on 5 by default. We also can’t work with a minimum order price, the following is a good example of why this is a problem:

We also make luxury snacks (see link: Luxe koude hapjes – Brasserie ‘Njoyz – Lunch, diner, catering in Bussum).
When we get an order like this, we need to buy in ‘bulk’ (or we’d have to dispose of a lot of food). So we have set a minimum of 5 snacks per type people order, and a minimum of 25 in total for the order to get through at all. Right now we’re just offering preset packs because we were never able to set up the snacks with these 2 requirements (minimum of 5 per type, minimum of 25 total). So, instead of ordering through the website, people still call us for custom quotes, which then get discussed extensively costing us a LOT of time (something WooCommerce was supposed to take out of our hands).

So we’re looking for an addon that can work like columns (various amounts depending on the kind of food people are looking for, so customizable) like I explained in the example of the sandwiches, but also has multiple minimum requirements as explained in the snacks example which also can be set per type of food people are looking for.

The closest I have seen so far are PDF sheets which people can fill in manually, but then we still have to send them invoices, something we want WooCommerce to handle.

I hope someone can help me out on this one because it’s really giving us a headache.

    Thanks so much!
    – Tessa

  • Hi Tess,

    Thanks for reaching out!

Based on your requirements, I believe this could be achieved by combining the following extensions:

    1. Product Add-Ons: This extension allows you to add customizable options to your products. You can create dropdown menus, radio buttons, and text fields for each sandwich. It provides the flexibility to customize toppings, bread type, butter preference, and allow customers to leave comments for allergies or special requests.
    2. Dynamic Pricing: This extension lets you set up dynamic pricing rules based on various conditions. You can define pricing rules specific to each product type or category. For example, you can create rules to offer discounts for bulk orders of snacks or apply different pricing tiers based on the quantity ordered.
    3. PDF Invoices & Packing Slips: This extension allows you to automatically generate and send PDF invoices to customers. It integrates with WooCommerce to handle invoicing and eliminates the need for manual invoice generation. You can customize the invoice templates to match your brand’s style.

WooCommerce.com offers a 30-day refund policy which you can take advantage of, allowing you to test the extension, and make sure that it is what you are looking for.

Should you have any pre-sales related questions, kindly contact us directly at WooCommerce.com → My Account → Support. You will need to create an account if you do not have one already.

    Hope this helps!
