  • From my experience WordPress runs very well with PHP 8.0. Whether you could already take 8.1 or 8.2 depends also on the plugins and theme you want to use. Many plugins and themes are unfortunately much further behind in terms of compatibility. Until 8.0 runs out of support, the plugins and themes should have caught up – hopefully.

    Thanks @threadi, that is (somewhat) reassuring. It looks to me like the last dev note link is for WordPress 5.9 though.

    I’m running a couple of sites on 8.2 without problems. As Threadi says, it depends on your themes and plugins. WP Core is happy at 8.2.

    Thanks @sterndata. I know I have one plugin that isn’t up to 8.2 yet. I *think* it’s the only one. So I’m going to start making plans to move to 8.1, hopefully during our next site maintenance.
