Looking for an image gallery for theme developer

Hi there, i’m looking for a plugin like NextGen Gallery that allow me to manage album, galleries and images and have some hooks to call when i develop my theme.
NextGen doesn’t have this hooks or they don’t do what i want so i’ve to perform some database queries.
Is there a plugin with this features? i’m not interested to shortcodes and similar in the admin panel. Thanks.Alessandro
