• I was making a website to rent out a part of our house and I found country inn.
But after a while I found out that is was no longer being updated and some plugins no longer work proper.

My wishes are very simple, but still I can not find another template. So I was hoping you guys could help me with this. Or point me into a good direction.

    Things I really want:
    – booking system
    – calender script
    – a choice between several sidebars (these should be different per page).
    – sliding header
    – Bright colours
    – News Letter

The first three makes it hard to find a template that works for me.

I prefer a free or cheap template. I will host is myself.

  • I am assuming by “template” you mean theme.
Themes only provide the look of the site, not functionality like booking and calendars and newsletters. Look for plugins for those things.
As for sidebars and colors, a lot of themes have options for these, most let you choose your own colors. Some themes even have a slider, although it’s usually only on the home page and it’s existing content. So it would be easier for you if you find a slider plugin (since you can configure it separately and add your own content), and then the theme choice will be easier.

Thank you, but I found some templates who have configured the plugins, what will help a lot, because with the lost theme (sorry for the mistake), the plugins did not work or there was no way to show them the right way. But it had an easy slider script build in.

So what you say is that the 1000’s of theme are just to show a differend color of buttons and lines? Because images and and colors can be changed?

    Sort of.
I’m saying that the themes here in the WordPress repository only style content. They may or may not have options for the user to customize. But they do not have any functionality beyond that. That is left to the thousands of plugins in the WordPress repository. Although there are thousands more themes and plugins outside of our repository, we don’t recommend any but the repository ones since they are reviewed before they can be part of the repository, to follow a certain standard.
You should want them to be separate, so that you can change the look of your site at any time (even from page to page), without that affecting the plugins. And the plugins being separate allows you to replace them individually as you find a better solution, or change how you want things to work.

Thank you very much for clearing this up!

    Sorry to bother you again.

But I have looked at several themes now.
I think I like this one.

But all the themes I have seen, only support 1 sidebar.

I like to use a differend sidebar on a few pages. Is this theme related, or do I need a plugin to do this?

I found a plugin for this
