Looking for a plugin that will keep my formatting in excerpts

I tried advanced-extend and it worked great in at it did keep the formatting beautifully, and also in the sense that for the posts where I wasn’t able to get the image to show in the excerpts, it showed the pics. But in the posts where the image was already showing, it showed a double image. I looked for info on how to fix this but it looks like the developer has not shown up for a while.

Any other ideas are appreciated.
