Looking for a guide on how to protect your WordPress Site..

I am new to the community of WordPress and have been looking around at various blogs for a awhile. I have watched several videos and read alot of information. I am currently trying to setup various widgets and plugins and i have noticed there is not a definitive guide on security setup on a wordpress site. If anyone here can recommend a good list of plugins that should be implemented like Askimet. I would greatfully appreciate it.Thanks in advance.
