    Hey There,

Thank you for such a great plugin! I have a quick question for you… The Bulk Editor assistant is excellent as we’d like to go through all our images and categorise them (epic job). We’re hoping to do it on a per POST basis. So my question is, is it possible to search for images by attached post in the Bulk Media Assistant?

Or could you point me in a direction to achieve this? I guess we could create a search ourselves using filters… Just interested to know if you ave any thoughts on this!

    Thank you!!

Thanks for your question and for the positive feedback. I am glad that MLA can help with what does sound like an epic job!

I hope I understand your question. You want to find all the Media Library items attached to a specific post/page. In other words, you want to filter the Media/Assistant submenu table by Parent ID; is that right?

There are two ways to do this. First, you can click on the “(parent:…)” entry in the ID/Parent column to filter the display by that ID. Second, you can enter the ID of the parent in the Search Media box at the top-right part of the screen. Entering a numeric value in the search box will search for an attachment or a parent post/page by ID, in addition to looking for the number in the usual text fields like Title and Description.

If you don’t see the ID you want in the Media/Assistant submenu table you can find it by going to the “All Posts” or “All Pages” screen and hovering over the Title value or the “Edit” rollover action. Look for “post=” in the URL displayed when you hover.

I hope that answers your question. I am marking this issue resolved, but please update it if I didn’t understand what you need or if you have problems with the solutions I have outlined.

Good luck with your project and thanks for your interest in the plugin.

    Hi David,

Yea that’s what I was after thank you so much! I tried the search box but it didn’t seem to return any results, the Parent ID link works fine though I’ll just use that.

    Thanks again!

    Thanks for the update.

The search box should work, but it only returns results when there are Media Library items attached to the post/page. You can also find a media item by entering its ID in the search box.

It only works for numeric entries; no quotes or additional input. If you can’t get it working at all, let me know.

David – your support for and communications with the many who use MLA and post here on the support forum is amazing. Your extra time to kindly explain and, when it comes down to it, gently teach and help coach us along have stood out to me since I first came across the Media Library Assistant. I’m not sure how you do it all, but the way in which you respond and resolve so many posts while at the same time implementing so many of the requests is, from an observer’s standpoint, remarkable. The above assist to Flick is just one example of the possible many where a Google Search result brings us to one of your WordPress Media related answers. Today, that helped me – thank you!

And Flick – thanks for asking this question.

I appreciate your approach to open-source, David, and the example you’ve set when it comes to communication regarding your work and voluntary support when questions come. Cheers (literally) for sure! Thanks again.
